perfect love drives out all fear
The Veritas Forum

was totally blessed by tonight’s Veritas Forum and blessed to see many people in attendance and to attend it with some of my ccm brothers and sisters.

John Lennox was very well informed, gracious, funny, and on point in discussing issues with regard to whether Christianity is true or not. While all his answers were very well thought out and winsome while all being generally genius at the same time. While his explanation of the trinity was phenomenal, the lasting message I heard from him was “if that wasn’t God on the Cross, then Christianity is invalidated. But if that was God on the Cross, then we need to ask ‘what was he doing there?’ “

As I walked out, I overheard some people laughingly saying “Ohmigosh he’s so smart!” and “I wish he would come back and speak again,” and even “I wish he lived on my floor!” All joking aside, I often listen to or read famous Christian Apologists and I can tend to be discouraged that I don’t know as much as they do and I tend to give up. What God has been teaching me is that defending the Christian faith from a rational perspective is something that can and should be done, or at the very least, attempted. I think of all the times I say “I don’t know the answer to the problem of evil, or how to relate Creation Science into an intellectual discussion about the evidence for God,” and then I think of the time I spend in front of the computer, TV, or playing video games, and then again how much I feel bad about not knowing more with regard to how to defend my faith that I tell others I believe in. I hope and pray that I’ll look at tonight’s forum and learn to be prepared to always be able to give a reason for the hope that I have in Christ.

i also think of the many retreats/conferences/forums etc. which i have attended and then i say “i can’t wait to see what God does in the aftermath of this event” and then i sit idly by waiting for something to happen. i hope and pray that what we heard tonight from Dr. Lennox would be the start of further reading, study, and conversation that we might have with those who do not share the same hope which we do!
